"This new CD is a compilation of Alice's works. These are her 'country' and 'roadhouse' songs along with the Texas Swing and Tex-Mex feel songs which make up what I call her 'Border Music'. I'm calling it 'Border Music' rather than 'Texas Music' because of the cultural influences during our years in Terlingua." "'Texas Music' is a pretty broad category for comtemporary Texas songwriters, from roadhouse to folk, country and rock. 'Border Music' is the slice that describes Alice's variety of styles." "Alice relates her unique perspective in her songwriting that touches the minds of others with her lyrical images inspired by the remoteness of the West Texas desert, the Rio Grande, Chisos Mountains and especially the people living in and visiting Terlingua and the Big Bend country of Texas", says Jack Knight. "Way Out In The West" features two new releases: 'Me and This Old Car' and 'Let Me Ride With You To Texas'. It also includes five tracks remastered from cassettes from the early nineties and eleven tracks from three previously released albums. Knightrax Records will promote and distribute the catalog of Alice Knight releases. The San Antonio record label and Last Outpost Publishing were created in 1994 by Jack and Alice Knight. The Alice Knight catalog now includes 94 tracks. It includes the first two albums, "Only In Dreams" and "Mananaland", originally issued on cassettes. It also includes her three previous releases now available on CD: "3 Minute Vacation", "Knightrax IX" and "Down In Terlingua". "Way Out In The West", along with the previously released albums, will be available on the web at aliceknight.com, at performances in San Antonio, and in the Alice Knight Studios in Terlingua and San Antonio, Texas. Alice Knight's San Antonio studio is in the La Villita Historic Art Village at 305 S. Alamo. It features her fine arts in watercolor and acrylic painting and her creative ideas in pottery, jewelry, handmade paper, and multimedia art forms.
